Mr. Lam said Vietnam has adopted a new development model in which science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, and international integration are identified as the key drivers of economic growth. He called on the two countries to move beyond traditional forms of cooperation toward joint creation and shared innovation.
Mr. Lam said Vietnam and Australia should shift from technology transfer to co-research and co-development, and from cooperation between individual institutions to deeper linkages between the two countries’ innovation ecosystems, with the goal of building a regional-scale innovation network.
“We should strengthen two-way investment in high-tech sectors and promote the establishment of research and development centers, joint laboratories, business incubators, and innovation projects with strong commercialization potential, paving the way for co-development and co-investment. Vietnam encourages high-quality Australian investment, especially in green finance, digital infrastructure, data centers, and innovation hubs, while also seeking technical support and experience sharing in developing international financial centers,” the top leader added.
Party leader and President Lam also called for closer cooperation in training high-quality human resources, particularly engineers, scientists, technology experts, and innovation managers, as well as expanded exchanges among students, researchers, and professionals.
He expressed confidence that the two countries will achieve new breakthroughs in cooperation to transform Vietnam-Australia relations into a model partnership in science, technology, innovation, and human resource development.
