During the talks, the two Prime Ministers agreed to strengthen the foundation of political trust and ramp up cooperation in security and defense. They reaffirmed the principle of not allowing hostile forces to use the territory of one country to undermine or threaten the security and interests of the other.
Both pledged to closely connect the two economies and promote cultural, educational, and tourism connections. They agreed on infrastructure, border and border gate connectivity, and the expressway linking Ho Chi Minh City and Moc Bai of Vietnam with Bavet and Phnom Penh of Cambodia. Both said they will study the expansion of flight routes connecting Vietnam and Cambodia, as well as Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. They will also study the establishment of special economic zones and cross-border economic zones, while agreeing to facilitate customs clearance of goods between the two countries.
The two PMs stressed the need to strengthen coordination at regional and global forums, especially within the framework of the Mekong Sub-regional Cooperation Mechanism, ASEAN, and the United Nations. They said Vietnam and Cambodia will coordinate with ASEAN countries to consolidate solidarity and autonomy, promote the peaceful resolution of differences, and expand cooperation with partners, while ensuring ASEAN's centrality and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development.
At the conclusion of the talks, the two Prime Ministers witnessed the signing ceremony of the information cooperation plan until 2030 between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Information of Cambodia.
