Zhang Deshan, Director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Hanoi, said that 2026–2027 has been designated the “China–Vietnam Tourism Cooperation Year,” marking a period of intensified tourism and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
He noted that the initiative offers major opportunities for localities, tourism businesses, travel agencies, and investors to jointly develop high-quality linked tourism products, including railway tourism, border tourism, cultural tourism, and youth-oriented travel programs.
According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, China was Vietnam’s largest tourism market in 2025, with more than 5.28 million mainland Chinese visitors accounting for around 25% of total international arrivals.
In the first four months of 2026, Vietnam welcomed over 1.85 million Chinese visitors out of a total of 8.8 million international arrivals. Meanwhile, Vietnam is also among the top five largest source markets for Chinese tourism.
