Mr. Giang, who also heads Vietnam's delegation to the ASEAN Senior Officials' Meeting, attended an interface meeting between ASEAN foreign ministers and representatives of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) in Manila. He said Vietnam highly values AICHR's role in strengthening regional cooperation on human rights and reaffirmed Vietnam's top priorities, including addressing human rights challenges linked to climate change and digital transformation, promoting gender equality, and protecting vulnerable groups.

The Deputy FM said Vietnam looks forward to working closely with other ASEAN member states to strengthen the bloc's voice and contribution to international efforts on human rights.

At a meeting of the Commission for the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon Free Zone (SEANWFZ), Mr. Giang called on ASEAN member states to fully and effectively implement the SEANWFZ Treaty's Plan of Action and enhance the bloc's role in global nuclear disarmament and non proliferation efforts.

The two meetings marked the opening of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM-59) and related meetings, which are being held in Manila from Monday to Friday.
