The agreement came during talks between National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man and Mongolian Parliament Speaker Sandag Byambatsogt in Ulaanbaatar on Thursday. The Vietnamese top legislator is visiting Mongolia from September 9 to 11 at Speaker Byambatsogt’s invitation.
The two leaders agreed to strengthen existing cooperation mechanisms and implement commitments reached by the senior leaders of both countries, including the Joint Declaration establishing the Vietnam-Mongolia Comprehensive Partnership.
They also called for greater market access for each other’s products, particularly Vietnam’s agricultural and aquatic products in Mongolia. The two sides agreed to step up investment promotion and work toward signing a new agreement on investment promotion and protection.
Parliamentary cooperation will also be expanded through more high-level and other delegation exchanges, closer coordination at regional and international parliamentary forums, and the effective implementation of existing cooperation agreements.
Byambatsogt said Mongolia would facilitate Vietnamese businesses seeking to explore the Mongolian market and make stable, long-term investments there.
Following the talks, the two top legislators signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two legislatures and witnessed the signing of a separate cooperation agreement between their parliamentary offices.
Mr. Man also met with J. Bayarmaa, chair of the Mongolia-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group who pledged continued support for implementing agreements reached by the two countries’ leaders and contributing to stronger Vietnam-Mongolia ties.
