At a reception for the Lao guests in Hanoi on Thursday, General Secretary and President Lam said the Vietnam-Laos relationship is of special significance, painstakingly cultivated by generations of leaders and the people of both nations, and now a priceless common asset for both peoples.

He proposed that both sides continue to effectively implement high-level agreements reached between the two Parties, and further elevate economic cooperation into a more significant pillar of the bilateral relationship. Specifically, both sides should concentrate resources on advancing strategic connectivity and logistics projects; create favorable conditions for businesses from both countries to expand investment, trade, and market integration.

Top leader Lam stressed the need to continue to enhance the exchange and sharing of experiences between the two Parties about political system building, personnel management, and national development; and strengthen strategic coordination and dialogue within international and regional forums—most notably the United Nations and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

For his part, Vilay Lakhamphong briefed his host on the outcomes of his talks with Standing Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee's Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, and meetings with other key Vietnamese leaders.

He pledged to work closely with the Vietnamese side to effectively implement high-level agreements, ensuring that the cooperative relationship between the two Parties and the two nations becomes increasingly profound, practical, and effective.

Also on Thursday afternoon in Hanoi, National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man received Vilay Lakhamphong, Standing Member of the Secretariat of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee. That same evening, in Hanoi, Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang also received the Lao guests.

On Thursday morning, as part of his official visit to Vietnam, Vilay Lakhamphong and his delegation laid a wreath and paid their respects at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and offered tributes to heroic martyrs at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs on Bac Son Street.
