The plan aims to address shortcomings in fisheries management, strengthen enforcement and prevent and ultimately end IUU fishing.
Vietnam will also prepare data and evidence of enforcement for its next working session with the European Commission, with the goal of having the EU’s “yellow card” warning lifted in 2026.
Key measures include improving the legal framework, tightening fishing fleet management and port controls, strengthening seafood traceability and controlling imported seafood materials.
The plan also calls for stronger law enforcement, digital transformation and data sharing, as well as greater international cooperation and communications. A nationwide “peak month” campaign against IUU fishing will also be launched.
