The king and queen presided over a formal welcome ceremony at the airport, greeting the Vietnamese leader and his spouse.
Following the ceremony, To Lam and his spouse joined the Danish king and queen in laying a wreath at the Monument for Denmark's International Effort in Copenhagen. Located within the Kastellet fortress, the memorial serves as a tribute from the Danish state and people to those who served, contributed, and made sacrifices in international missions since 1948.
Denmark was among the first Western countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam, doing so in 1971. Over the past 55 years, bilateral relations have grown significantly.
