The conference comes as foreign affairs and international integration have, for the first time, been designated a regular and strategic national task.
Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung said: “Through this Diplomatic Conference, we hope Vietnam's diplomatic sector will fully leverage its pioneering role and effectively fulfill its strategic and enduring mission in carrying out the new tasks entrusted by the Party and the State in this new era. Our immediate priority during the term of the 14th National Party Congress is to help lay a solid foundation for the country to achieve its development goals for 2030 and its long-term vision for 2045."
Running through August 7, the conference features science and technology diplomacy, stronger support for businesses abroad, and improving the effectiveness of Vietnamese missions overseas.
The Ministries of Foreign Affairs, National Defense and Public Security will also discuss closer policy coordination to strengthen national competitiveness.
