FDI implementation reached 15.2 billion USD during the first seven months, up 11.8% from a year earlier and marking the highest seven-month implementation level in the past five years.
Newly registered FDI also posted robust growth. Between January and July, Vietnam licensed 2,430 new projects with total registered capital of 21 billion USD. Manufacturing and processing remained the largest FDI recipient, accounting for 55% of newly registered capital, followed by electricity, gas, and water production and supply.
Singapore remained Vietnam's largest foreign investor among the 69 countries and territories with newly licensed projects during the period, committing 7.5 billion USD. It was followed by South Korea, Hong Kong (China), and China.
Meanwhile, Vietnam's overseas investment also surged in the first seven months, reaching 2.36 billion USD, 4.5 times higher than a year earlier. Investment focused on infrastructure, logistics, and energy projects.
Vietnamese businesses invested in 35 countries and territories, with Laos remaining the largest destination, attracting more than 638 million USD, followed by Cambodia and Indonesia.
