Meeting Australian Senate President Sue Lines and House of Representatives Speaker Milton Dick in Canberra, the Vietnamese top leader called for stronger exchanges between parliamentary committees, friendship groups, women and young lawmakers, and local parliamentarians.
He said closer legislative ties would help strengthen political trust, facilitate the sharing oft experience in lawmaking and governance, and turn high-level agreements into practical results.
Mr. Lam urged Australia’s Parliament to support Vietnam’s institutional reforms, digital government development and efforts to create a favorable environment for business and investment.
The two sides agreed to expand cooperation in education, research, vocational training and qualification recognition, while sharing experience in artificial intelligence and digital technologies.
They also pledged to coordinate at multilateral parliamentary forums and promote multilateralism including the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and agreed on the need to respect international law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
