(VOVworld) - Emeritus teacher Nguyen Anh Tai was retired after 40 years of work. He is now still enthusiastic with the educational cause. He opens the Le Van Tam primary and secondary school in Na Hang, Tuyen Quang province. VOV reporter profiles teacher Nguyen Anh Tai.

Graduated from the Faculty of Physics at the Teachers’ Training University in 1968, teacher Nguyen Anh Tai taught at Na Hang High School in Tuyen Quang province. At that time, the teaching and learning conditions were harsh. The local people helped teachers collect wood from the forest to build classrooms and furniture. Aiming to narrow the language gap with the ethnic minority pupils, teacher Tai tried to explain the lessons in the simplest way. Teacher Tai recalled: "I can name all my pupils after 40 years. The teacher and pupils had a close bond and shared everything with each other. At that time, the pupils were more disadvantaged than their peers at present, but the learning quality was the same. They had strong determination to learn. The teachers were enthusiastic to answer their questions anytime."

Teacher Tai thoroughly understood the difficulties facing his students. When he was appointed Deputy Director of Tuyen Quang provincial Department of Education and Training, he proposed to build a model of semi-boarding schools with support of the local people, so the pupils didn’t have to travel a long way back and forth between their home and school. The model was then replicated across the province helping universalize primary and secondary education. When he is retired, teacher Tai wants to continue devoting his experience to the educational sector. "Pupils now have a lot of pressure. I want to create a relaxing, diverse, and comprehensive learning environment for them. Generally, people want to rest after a long time of working. But I think when we are retired, we have accumulated a lot of experience. If we stay at home, we waste our experience. I want to contribute my wisdom and energy to the pupils," Tai said.

Teacher Tai has opened the Le Van Tam private school. In the first year, 90% of the pupils achieved the good and excellent academic result. This year, the recruitment rate increased by 10%. Teacher Tai regularly attends classes and discusses with teachers how to adopt the best teaching method. The pupils have extra activities to enrich their knowledge. Teacher of Fine Arts, Lam Thi Tuyet Mai, says: "We organize tours for the pupils to visit historical sites in Tan Trao. The pupils of grade 1 and 2 visited military stations, so in the painting lessons, they can draw the soldiers. I learn a lot of teaching method from teacher Tai especially teacher and pupils interaction, and pupil-centered learning."

Teacher Tai has gained respect from the pupils and trust from their parents, a reward for his tireless contributions to the educational sector.
