(VOVworld) - The 11th “Hanoi in me 2016” exhibition was on at the heritage center of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel under the theme "The imprint of Hanoi’s architectural heritage". The event helps to honor and promote the heritage of the Capital, Hanoi.

The six-day exhibition showcased 80 photos of Hanoi's heritage representing the historical, cultural, and architectural wealth of the thousand-year city. Many of the legacies were recognized by UNESCO as World Cultural Heritage sites, such as the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the doctor laureate steles at the Temple of Literature, and the Giong Festival. Photos also featured other heritage sites that have long been associated with Hanoi, including the One Pillar pagoda, Sword lake, Long Bien bridge, and the Hanoi Opera House. Exhibits were divided into 3 major parts, featuring the themes "the imprint of architecture of Thang Long - Hanoi", "Hanoi’s architecture in the integration period", and "Conservation and Restoration to ensure the diversity of architectural culture". They reflect the range of heritage over time, the pride of Hanoians in their heritage, and their efforts to preserve through the generations. The photos brought visitors an insight into architectural diversity and its cultural development. The event helped to promote the image of Hanoi, one of the world’s top 10 tourist destinations.

Dang Linh, a veteran photographer, said: “I display at the exhibition 2 photos of the Vietnam National Museum of History and Hanoi Opera House. I am so impressed with the French architecture of these two buildings so I captured it. The two photos and others at this exhibition boast Hanoi’s beautiful architecture”

The photos were taken by members of the Hanoi Elderly Photographers Club and reporters and collaborators from the Economics and Urban newspaper, whose love for Hanoi were reflected in their works. They have contributed efforts to preserving its heritage and promote its values.

The 80 photos were selected from hundreds taken of Hanoi’s iconic buildings. Van Phuc, a member of the Hanoi Elderly Photographers Club, said: “There is a large number of historical and relic sites in Hanoi but we chose the best places to be exhibited here. Visitors to the exhibition can learn more about Hanoi and its architectural beauty.”

Nguyen Thu Nga, a visitor, told VOV: “The exhibition showcases the most well-known heritage of Hanoi. I hope these photos will help young people get to know more about the thousand-year history of Hanoi”.

The “Hanoi in me” exhibition has been held for 11 years, becoming an important event for those in love with photography and Hanoi.
