(VOVworld)- Xam singing known as streetcar singing appeared in the north of Vietnam long ago. In Hanoi, there’s a unique style of Xam singing, called Xam tau dien, which was performed on trams or streetcars by mostly itinerant blind artists accompanied by dan nhi (two-string violin) or dan bau (monochord), used to charm commuters daily. After 20 years falling into oblivion, the strains of Xam tau dien were heard again in the capital city over the weekends, with a series of concerts at the Women's Museum.

(VOVworld) - Thang Long – Hanoi ancient dances is the elaborate combination of many cultures, which was an essential folk art in the daily life of the capital city’s dwellers. Ancient dances have disappeared from the modern life. In order to revitalize the ancient dances, artists and researchers have traveled to localities to meet senior artists and seek for historical documents. Our program today introduces artist Le Hong Thang who devotes her life to ancient dances of Thang Long – Hanoi.

(VOVworld) – At the start of this month, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology and the Vietnam Television’s ethnic language channel held a joint exhibition of items collected by children who were born in the 90s last previous century and are members of a gong group from KonTum Kpang hamlet in Kon Tum city. A 30-minute film titled ‘Gong rhythms of 90s children’ was screened reflecting the thoughts, feeling, and dreams of the young gong players. (VOVworld) – Every Sunday morning, visitors to Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem Lake find a middle-aged man patiently collecting litter strewn on the path or under the benches. He is Ninomiya, Director of the Japanese-invested Ishigaki Rubber plant located in Hanoi-Dai Tu Industrial Park. For over a year, he and a group of volunteer youths have done this simple job to protect the environment around Sword Lake. This week, VOV’s Bui Hang profiles Mr. Ninomiya.

(VOVworld) – Twenty four patients in the Dioxin Treatment Department of the Da Nang victims under the Hanoi Military Hospital 103 are the first people living around Da Nang airport recently being confirmed to have been exposed to Agent Orange/Dioxin (AO). They are provided with free detoxification treatment using the Hubbard method which has been successfully applied for victims of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear catastrophe in Ukraine.
