Schools held opening ceremonies alongside a nationwide online event broadcast live on national television and radio and streamed on digital platforms, including VOVWORLD’s Vietnamese-language section.
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung attended the main ceremony at Muong Khuong Ethnic Minority Boarding School in Lao Cai province. National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man attended the ceremony at Le Quy Don High School in Hung Yen, while Party Central Committee Secretariat member Tran Cam Tu attended the ceremony at Bac Ninh Provincial Ethnic Minority Boarding School.
Following the flag-raising ceremony at Muong Khuong Primary and Lower Secondary Ethnic Minority Boarding School, Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son read a letter from General Secretary and President To Lam to the education sector on the occasion of the new school year.
In his letter, the Vietnamese top leader said that the new school year must bring real improvements in the quality of teaching and learning and ensure greater equality in access to education. Every school should be a place where students are respected and heard, encouraged to study independently and develop their skills, where talent is discovered and nurtured, and where every unfortunate student is cared for.
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung said the ceremony marked the beginning of a new school year and celebrated the completion of modern, well-equipped schools that provide better learning and living conditions for children in the border areas.
As Vietnam is entering a new stage of development, driven by the aspiration to build a strong, prosperous and developed nation, education must serve as a foundation and a key driving force for development.
Mr Hung said: “The 2026–2027 school year is the first school year to implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, a year of renewed thinking, new approaches and improved quality, aimed at creating strong and breakthrough changes in education and training. Substantive innovation is required to be made at every school and classroom, by every teacher and student."
"The education sector needs to make fundamental changes in management and teaching methods, putting learners at the centre, schools at the foundation, teachers as the driving force, families as a source of support, and society as a partner. Schools should be friendly, safe, healthy and humane environment where students are respected, encouraged to be creative and supported in pursuing their dreams,” said the Prime Minister.
The leaders and delegates cut ribbons to inaugurate the newly-built inter-level boarding schools in border communes and the principals of schools simultaneously beat drums to mark the beginning of the 2026–2027 school year.
