Asian countries are urged to promote more drastic joint efforts and actions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and address non-traditional global challenges such as energy security, cyber security, human security, and health security.
Regarding the East Sea issue, relevant parties need to strictly implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) towards achieving a substantive and effective Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC) in line with international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and at the same time, refrain from taking actions that complicate the situation and violate the sovereign rights and jurisdiction of the countries as set by the 1982 UNCLOS.
Deputy Prime Minister Quang said that Vietnam persists in implementing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification, being a good friend, a reliable partner and an active and responsible member of the international community.
Vietnam pledges to contribute to peace, cooperation, stability and prosperous development in Asia and around the world.
The 2-day Asia Future Conference is taking place in Tokyo with focus on the vision, roles and cooperation direction of Asia in handling global issues, economic recovery and development, green transition, climate change, narrowing of the development gap, and the decline of democratic values and social inequality.
