“Echoes of Rhythm”: Vietnam’s folk music between past and future
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese traditional music, once the heartbeat of village courtyards, temple festivals, and communal life, is facing its greatest challenge in the digital age. As visual culture and fast-paced entertainment dominate the screens of Gen Z, can the folk rhythms of Cheo, Ca tru, Xam and other folk theaters find their place in the lives of young Vietnamese today? Recently, at the cultural space of Bich Cau Temple in Hanoi, the “Echoes of Rhythm” talk show brought together master artists and Gen Z audiences for a rare, cross-generational dialogue. Their conversations, performances, and concerns reveal both the fragility and the enduring strength of Vietnam’s musical heritage.

When code meets compassion: A lifeline in times of disaster
(VOVWORLD) - On the morning of October 8, the water level of the Cau River in Thai Nguyen province reached 29.9 m, one meter higher than the historical flood peak of 2024. Prolonged heavy rain caused widespread floods overnight, in some places the water reached the second floor of local houses and residents had to climb to the roof to wait for rescue. While rescue teams struggled to reach isolated neighborhoods, a small group of young engineers quietly began a different kind of rescue, turning lines of code into a lifeline. What started that night as a spontaneous act of compassion would soon evolve into a real-time digital map that helped save lives far beyond Thai Nguyen.

What began as a simple trend, playing patriotic songs on traditional instruments, has quietly grown into a heartfelt practice, where young people turn to music as a way to connect with their roots. VOV has the story.

Reuniting martyrs with their families through photographs
(VOVWORLD) -Using torn and faded photos of fallen soldiers — and in many cases, with no photo at all — the young men of the Skyline group have helped many families obtain a clear, restored portrait with which to remember husbands, fathers, and brothers who sacrificed their lives fighting for Vietnam's independence. The quiet, behind-the-scenes work of this group of young people who restore martyrs' portraits has eased the pain of their relatives and given them comfort.
