(VOVWORLD) - What does it take to create an award-winning photograph? Many would say it’s all in the techniques, the gears, and an eye for beauty. But 71-year-old award-winning, master photographer Do Anh Tuan said, a great photo has to move people to their core. And sometimes, that means closing your eyes and opening up your heart.

(VOVWORLD) - There are various ways to approach a culture. Observing how people react to their surrounding environment and its physical objects is one way to learn about the culture of a community. Vietnam is a culturally diverse country that is home to 54 ethnic groups, making it a magnet for many foreigners including Mark Rapoport, an American antique researcher and collector.

(VOVWORLD) - Stage puppetry is an art form in which the expression, gestures, and actions of hollow puppets are manipulated by people. There are different forms of stage puppetry: stick puppets, rod puppets, string puppets, hand puppets, and finger puppets. In Vietnam most puppetry plays are based on folk tales or excerpts of traditional theater performances. This week’s “Sunday show” will feature Meritorious Artist Nguyen Ho Thuy Tien who has a great passion for stage puppetry and has made efforts to bring the art genre to the world.

(VOVWORLD) - If there is a special kind of love in this world, it’s the love between pets and their owners. At least the faithful and unconditional love pets give us. But, what happens when your pets get sick, old or have an accident and become crippled? Sadly, some people repay their pet’s love by dumping them, resulting in a growing population of abandoned, homeless animals. In 2015, Hanoi Pet Adoption, an animal rescue shelter, was set up by Pham Khanh Quynh. Hanoi Pet Adoption and volunteers have rescued thousands of stray and abandoned animals, and given them care, medical treatment, and a second chance in life.

(VOVWORLD) - 33-year-old Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tam from Y Yen district, Nam Dinh province, who was born with brittle bone disease, can’t remember how many times her bones have been broken. The number is far greater than her age. While most people measure their life in years, Tam is forced to measure hers in days. Despite all her hardships, Tam has never let her condition hinder her from achieving her dreams and contributing to society.

(VOVWORLD) - Sea and islands are sacred territory of the Vietnamese nation. The Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago has always been a place that everyone wants to visit. In late April, a delegation departed from Ho Chi Minh City to travel over 1,100 nautical miles to visit a number of islands in Truong Sa and the DK 1 platform, an offshore economic, scientific, and technical service station on Vietnam’s southern continental shelf. At each destination of the journey, they saw with their own eyes the strong spirit and determination of the people and naval soldiers who have overcome challenges to safeguard the national sea and islands.

(VOVWORLD) - 4,000 mountain children have received 2 million free meals through a project called “Moc Chau Child-Rearing” started by Lieutenant Duong Hai Anh of Son La province’s public security force. Hai Anh was honored as one of the 10 Outstanding Young Faces of Vietnam in 2022.

(VOVWORLD) -Spring is the season of festivals in Vietnam, especially in the North. The festival of the five Moc villages along the To Lich river in Hanoi is one of the most-anticipated. It is held every five years and attracts huge crowds of people with its colorful parades, folk games and music. The festival of five Moc villages is recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage.
