(VOVWORLD) - These days Christians in Vietnam are joyfully celebrating Christmas. A festive atmosphere is spreading in parishes and dioceses. To mark the occasion, leaders of the Party, State, and local governments reiterate and acknowledge the pivotal role and contributions made by Christians to national construction and defense, saying the unity of religions has strengthened the national unity bloc and made Vietnam stronger.

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam is strengthening green transition and accelerating renewable energy development. Poor and low-income people are likely to have difficulty keeping up with the transition. This is one of the Vietnamese government’s concerns in implementing the Political Declaration on establishing a Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) in order to ensure human rights in the new context.

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has just successfully defended the 5th National Report on the Implementation of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (CERD) at the Convention Committee in Geneva, Switzerland, especially in ensuring the rights of ethnic minorities regarding hunger eradication, poverty reduction, social security. These results manifest the Vietnamese Party and State’s attention to and effective investment in ethnic minority affairs and in ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of the people.

(VOVWORLD) - The 13th Vietnam Trade Union Congress for the 2023-2028 tenure will take place from Friday to Sunday in Hanoi. This is an important political event for the working class and Vietnamese tradeunions nationwide. The Congress will discuss ways to ensure the rights of workers, expand trade union membership, establish grassroots trade unions in non-state enterprises, and develop a contingent of grassroots trade union presidents to meet the needs of the new development period.

(VOVWORLD) - At the ongoing National Assembly meeting in Hanoi, the draft revised Land Law and 8 other bills are being considered for approval. The revision of the Land Law shows Vietnam's strong determination to reform its land policy to meet practical needs.

(VOVWORLD) - The National Assembly has finished conducting votes of confidence on 44 individuals it either elected or approved. This is one way the Assembly exercises its oversight responsibility – by assessing the performance of individuals through a vote. Votes of confidence improve the performance of the State apparatus and motivate national development.

(VOVWORLD) - At its latest plenum earlier this month, the Party Central Committee adopted a resolution on continuing to reform and improve social policies. Under the resolution, Vietnam’s social policies will be made universal and comprehensive so that no one is left behind.

(VOVWORLD) - The 8th Congress of Vietnamese Catholics on national construction and defense opened in Hanoi on Thursday. The event demonstrates the Vietnamese Party and State’s policy of freedom of religion and belief and national unity. The Communist Party of Vietnam has always considered religion a spiritual need of the people. Vietnam’s consistent views on freedom of belief and religion are reflected in the legal system.
