Over the past two days, a combined civilian-military healthcare program was carried out in Tan Lac commune, Phu Tho province by a delegation from General Department II of the Ministry of National Defense, in coordination with VOVWORLD, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, and the Vietnam Young Physicians Association.

The program provided free medical examinations and medicines to 300 low-income and disadvantaged people. In addition, 100 gift packages were distributed to needy families, and 20 scholarships were awarded to underprivileged students with strong academic records.

Le Van Thach, Party Secretary and Chairman of the People’s Council of Tan Lac commune, said: “The program gives local residents access to healthcare services and makes them feel cared for. It also tightens bonds between the people and the army and strengthens their trust in the Party and the military.”

Bui Thi Thu, a local resident, said: “I was invited to get a free medical check-up and was very pleased with the dedication and friendliness of the doctors and staff. I received a thorough examination and was given an effective medication for my condition.”

In Ho Chi Minh City, authorities launched simultaneous community-level screening programs and introduced “continuous healthcare teams” on Sunday.

At the Duc Nhuan ward health station, Phu Nhuan General Hospital worked with local authorities to provide cardiovascular and diabetes screenings for 100 elderly residents in difficult circumstances.

Dr. Le Thi Kim Hanh, Deputy Director of Phu Nhuan General Hospital, said: “We deployed ultrasound and electrocardiogram (ECG) machines. Staff from the labor union and youth union assisted with patient reception and triage. Doctors conducted examinations and diagnoses, and nurses measured vital signs and performed ECG tests.”

In Hanoi, free medical check-ups and free medicine programs are themed “Proactive disease prevention – for a healthier Vietnam”. In Thai Nguyen province, a week-long campaign of free consultations and health screenings will run until Friday.
