(VOVWORLD) -The 31st Southeast Asian Games will open on Thursday evening at My Dinh National Stadium, Hanoi. The ceremony is expected to embrace the cultural identity of Vietnam and Southeast Asian countries.

The public says this is an important follow-up to the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, which has been operating effectively for years. The establishment of a Provincial Steering Committee is seen as a way to build consensus in the fight against corruption.

(VOVWORLD) - In 2003 Southeast Asian Games organizers, ASEAN countries, and the WHO signed an official document to eliminate all forms of tobacco at sports events to ensure a tobacco-free SEA Games. During SEA Games 31 the host country Vietnam will abide by that agreement.

(VOVWORLD) - The European Commission on Wednesday proposed a new round of sanctions on Russia, including a ban on oil imports. The measure announced by EC President Ursula von der Leyen is part of the sixth package of sanctions that the EU has imposed on Russia since Moscow began a special military operation in Ukraine. Earlier, EU members met to discuss Europe’s energy alternatives, but the problem is a hard one to solve.
