(VOVWORLD) - The 14th National Party Congress will not only define Vietnam’s internal development directions but also carry the mission of positioning Vietnam on the international stage said Dr. Ung Quoc Hung, Chief Engineer of Setec Nucléaire Group (France) and Vice Chairman of the Network of Overseas Vietnamese Nuclear Energy Experts (VietNuc).

In an interview with the press on Monday, he said that the Congress’s direction will help consolidate Vietnam’s standing, enhance strategic autonomy, and promote selective international integration. A key requirement for Vietnam in the new development phase is a strong shift toward a sustainable development model, with science and technology as the foundation, enhanced strategic autonomy, and accelerated green transition.
Lamijo, a Southeast Asia researcher at Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), said that beyond shaping Vietnam’s domestic political direction, the 14th National Party Congress will also elevate the country’s position in Southeast Asia and globally.

“In my view, following the Congress, Vietnam is likely to prioritize a number of strategic policies, particularly the strategy to realize the vision toward 2045. Vietnam will accelerate the transformation of its economic model from a low-cost manufacturing base to a high value-added economy, by strengthening the development of technology sectors, the digital economy, and innovation, while improving the quality of education and scientific research. Vietnam has set a target of an average GDP growth of around 10% during the 2026–2030 period, with GDP per capita expected to reach approximately 8,500 USD by 2030,” said Lamijo.
