Speaking at the gathering, Senate President Vystrčil highlighted three major advantages that position Vietnam and the Czech Republic for strong economic–trade cooperation. They include a 75-year history of solidarity since Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic and Slovakia) became the first European country to establish diplomatic ties with Vietnam; a sizeable Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, with more than 300,000 people able to speak and understand Czech; and a community of around 50,000 ethnic Vietnamese currently residing in the Czech Republic, recognized as an official minority group with full rights.

He affirmed that these unique factors create favorable conditions for expanding business partnerships between the two countries.

According to the Ministry of Finance’s Foreign Investment Agency, bilateral trade between Vietnam and the Czech Republic reached 1.6 billion USD in the first nine months of 2025. The Czech Republic currently has 46 investment projects in Vietnam with total registered capital of approximately 91.5 million USD, ranking 52nd out of 153 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.
