PM calls for European investment in Vietnam’s semiconductor manufacturing
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam prioritizes semiconductor manufacturing and welcomes investment at every stage of the value chain and across all product segments, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said at a reception in Hanoi on Tuesday for Dr. Philipp Rösler, Chairman of the Swiss-Vietnam Economic Forum (SVEF), and European business representatives.

Green development and the digital economy are strategic priorities for Vietnam’s sustainable growth, the PM said, noting that the country has an open administrative environment and preferential policies for these sectors.
“In the semiconductor industry, Vietnam has a strong demand for technology transfer, investment capital, and human resource training. We are striving to train 100,000 chip design engineers by 2030,” he said.
PM Chinh urged European enterprises to continue supporting Vietnam in developing an international financial center; encourage the remaining European Union member states to ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA); advocate for the European Commission to soon lift the IUU “yellow card” on Vietnam’s seafood exports; and contribute to Vietnam’s development goals through long-term investment, technology transfer, innovation cooperation, and the promotion of international standards on ESG, green finance, and sustainable finance.
Dr. Rösler affirmed that he would continue supporting Vietnam in achieving double-digit growth and in realizing the goal of building an international financial center. He added that SVEF stands ready to assist Vietnam in trade- and finance-related areas.
