Iran says it may dilute enriched uranium for sanctions relief

(VOVWORLD) - Iranian officials on Monday said Tehran still harbors “deep mistrust” toward the US, but is willing to resume negotiations on the nuclear issue and diluting enriched uranium if sanctions on Iran are lifted.

At a meeting with ambassadors in Tehran, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran is prepared to have "serious and constructive" negotiations, provided Washington demonstrates the same willingness. “Unfortunately, a deep mistrust persists due to the behavior of the United States in recent years,” he said.

Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has called on the public to unite ahead of the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution amid rising tensions with the US.

Previously, Iran's Vice President Mohammad Eslami said Iran would be willing to “dilute” its 60 percent-enriched uranium, a level far exceeding the 3.67% limit allowed under its nuclear deal with world powers in 2015, if all sanctions, especially those by the US are lifted.

According to Eslami, who is also head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will inspect a number of Iranian nuclear facilities in the coming days, following the Iran-Israel conflict in June 2025.
