Iran, US agree on guiding principles for a potential deal
(VOVWORLD) - Iran and the United States have reached consensus on a set of “guiding principles” during talks in Geneva, Switzerland, marking an important step forward in efforts to ease one of the world’s longest and most complex geopolitical tensions.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said both sides reached initial common ground on various ideas and basic principles that could serve as a foundation for subsequent negotiations. Washington expects Tehran to submit more concrete proposals within the next two weeks to narrow remaining differences.
US Vice President JD Vance said the nuclear talks with Iran in Geneva had achieved some initial progress, but disagreements remain over Washington's red lines.
