The shooting occurred at 9pm local time. French prosecutors said they have opened an anti-terrorism investigation, adding that the attacker has now been shot dead. The shooter, identified by the AFP news agency as a 39-year-old French man, was arrested in February on suspicion of plotting to kill police officers but was released because of lack of evidence.
