Party General Secretary To Lam meets with Vietnamese Ambassadors, Heads of Overseas Missions

(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary To Lam met on Sunday with Vietnamese ambassadors and heads of overseas representative missions who returned home to attend the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also attended the meeting.

At the gathering, ambassadors and heads of missions shared overseas Vietnamese communities’ pride and excitement following the successful conclusion of the 14th National Party Congress. They expressed strong confidence in Vietnam’s renewed momentum and enhanced standing as the nation enters a new era of development.

Welcoming the ambassadors and heads of missions, General Secretary To Lam highlighted the major orientations set out in the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress. He affirmed that foreign affairs hold an important position, as clearly stated in the Resolution, requiring the diplomatic sector to continue reforming its operations and effectively implementing the Congress’s Resolution to meet the country’s development needs in the new period.

He emphasized that ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions overseas must demonstrate greater proactiveness, responsiveness, and initiative amid increasingly complex and unpredictable global developments, strengthening strategic forecasting, identifying diplomatic resources to safeguard strategic autonomy and national resilience to serve national interests, while engaging responsibly in global issues.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam also called on ambassadors and heads of overseas missions to further strengthen support for Vietnamese communities abroad, foster unity, and pay close attention to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens and businesses. He underscored the importance of mobilizing and leveraging community resources, particularly intellectuals, experts, and scientists.
