Positive signs in Russia–Ukraine negotiations

(VOVWORLD) - US President Donald Trump said Monday that US-mediated negotiations on a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine were “going very well,” adding that a trilateral meeting will take place later this week, though he provided no further details.

US officials said progress had been made toward a framework for a potential agreement, despite many complex issues remaining unresolved. US media reported that Washington has discussed security guarantees with Kyiv, a key requirement for Ukraine in any peace deal, but stressing that the US is not imposing specific terms.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said documents related to US security guarantees were “100% complete” and that Kyiv was awaiting a time and venue for signing, reiterating that Ukraine’s territorial integrity must be respected in any peace settlement.

The Kremlin said territorial issues remain central to the talks. Russian and Ukrainian negotiators are expected to meet again on Sunday, with possible participation by US officials.
