(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam-Laos relations continue to develop comprehensively and effectively across multiple fields, said Vietnamese President Luong Cuong.

At a meeting in Hanoi on Monday with Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and President of Laos, President Cuong affirmed that both sides will continue to regard strategic connectivity in political ties as the pillar guiding overall bilateral relations.
Vietnam and Laos will further strengthen defense and security cooperation to maintain political stability, social order, and safety in each country, as well as coordinate the acceleration of the implementation of key cooperation projects, address difficulties and bottlenecks, and create new breakthroughs in economic, trade, and investment cooperation.
In addition, they will continue close coordination in organizing commemorative activities for major national anniversaries in a practical, effective, and in-depth manner, while enhancing exchanges of views on strategic issues and mutual support at multilateral forums.

General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his pleasure over his State visit to Vietnam in his new capacity, shortly after the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam successfully held their national congresses.
He voiced strong confidence that, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam will continue to achieve new and even greater accomplishments, steadily entering a new era of national development and successfully implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress.
