(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Secretary of the Government’s Party Committee, on Sunday chaired a conference to review the performance of the Government’s Party Committee in 2025 and outline tasks for 2026.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister said 2025 marked a major milestone with the establishment and first year of operation of the Government’s Party Committee.
The establishment of the Government's Party Committee was a major reform of the Party Central Committee, aiming to strengthen the comprehensive and direct leadership of the Party over the Government's management and administration.
According to reports presented at the conference, the Government’s Party Committee led the Government, ministries, sectors, localities to achieve and exceed all 15 key targets for socio-economic development in 2025 with a GDP growth of 8.02% (among the highest in the region and the world) while the economy expanded to nearly 514 billion USD, ranking 32nd in the world. Vietnam’s per capita income was estimated at 5,026 USD, placing Vietnam among the upper-middle-income countries and fulfilling one of the major goals set by the 13th National Party Congress.

For 2026, the Government’s Party Committee aims for GDP growth of 10% or higher, with GDP per capita reaching 5,400–5,500 USD. This year, a new growth model will be established, and the economy will be restructured, with industrialization and modernization accelerated and science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation serving as the main driving forces.
To achieve these goals, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called for a focus on five strategies on improving strategic institutions, mobilizing strategic resources, investing in strategic infrastructure, developing strategic technologies, and shaping strategic balance.
He also underlined the effective implementation of breakthrough strategic resolutions issued by the Politburo while continuing to streamline and reorganize the administrative apparatus, improve institutions, and ensure the effective operation of the Government and the two-tier local government model toward proactive and service-oriented manner to support national development.
