Red carpet welcoming ceremony for European Council President in Hanoi
(VOVWORLD) -President Luong Cuong hosted an official welcome ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi on Thursday for President of the European Council (EC) António Costa, who is on a two-day official visit to Vietnam.

Following the welcoming ceremony, both leaders held a private meeting before leading the high-level delegations of Vietnam and the EU in talks to assess the results of cooperation between the two sides in the past and propose directions for future cooperation.
According to EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier, the visit of European Council President Antonio Costa takes place at a time when Vietnam-EU relations have developed most strongly and extensively in the region after 35 years, and Vietnam-EU cooperation has reached a stage that could usher in a "new era" in relations between the two sides.
