Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov
In a televised statement in Russia’s RT TV station on Wednesday, Lavrov said during the US Vice President Joe Biden’s visit to Kiev, the Ukrainian caretaker government had resumed the so-called “counter-terrorism campaign in southeastern Ukraine”, despite that the Geneva accord was reached last week, calling for avoiding any form of violence and provocation.
He reiterated that the Ukrainian caretaker government has not complied with the agreement and said Moscow will respond in pursuant to international laws, if the legitimate rights of its citizens are threatened and Russia’s territorial integrity is attacked. Lavrov said the 25 May Ukrainian presidential election, without consulting Russian-speaking communities, is particularly harmful to all Ukrainians.
