(VOVWORLD) -The United Nations (UN) said on Friday that a World Food Program(WFP) convoy came under attack by a drone in Sudan's North Kordofan state.

In a statement, UN resident coordinator in Sudan Denise Brown was deeply concerned by a drone attack on trucks contracted by the WFP in North Kordofan.
The trucks were traveling from Kosti to deliver life-saving food assistance to displaced families near El Obeid when they were attacked, tragically killing at least one person and injuring several others. The trucks caught fire, destroying food commodities intended for life-saving humanitarian response.
The UN has frequently reported that its convoys and those of other international organizations in Sudan come under aerial attack, while Sudan continues to face severe food shortages.
