(VOVWORLD) -Reinforcing and developing relations with China is a consistent principle, an objective requirement, a strategic and natural choice, and a top priority for Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam He Wei on Sunday in Hanoi.

The PM reiterated Vietnam's unwavering policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development as well as its diversification and multilateralization of foreign relations.
He proposed that both sides further mutual understanding and enhance political trust through well-organized exchanges, contacts, and high-level delegations, while promoting cooperation mechanisms and encouraging ministries, sectors, and localities to strengthen exchanges and cooperation.

Prime Minister Chinh called on both sides to seriously implement the high-level common understanding on better controlling and resolving disagreements at sea on the basis of respecting each other's legitimate rights and interests, and resolving disagreements through peaceful means in accordance with international law.
Ambassador He said China values and prioritizes promoting relations with Vietnam and is ready to share experiences and theories on Party building and national governance with Vietnam, elevating cooperation in key and regular areas including diplomacy and defense.
Both sides adhere to high-level common understandings, jointly manage and resolve disagreements more effectively, and create a peaceful, stable, and favorable environment for the development of each country, he added.
