At the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam highlighted some of Vietnam's outstanding achievements in 2025, including a GDP growth rate of over 8% and the successful organization of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Bilateral trade between Vietnam and Australia reached 14 billion USD last year, he said.

Participants were treated to performances by artists from the Hue Royal Court Traditional Arts Theater.

Professor Nghiem Duc Long from the University of Technology Sydney, President of the Association of Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts in Australia, said, “This year's community Tet celebration gave me a very joyful and warm feeling, but also a great sense of pride because we saw the growing maturity and unity of the Vietnamese community in Australia. Noteworthy is the fundraising by Vietnamese expatriates in Australia to support those affected by last year's floods or the VietNest project which aims to teach Vietnamese to Vietnamese children living in Australia, as well as future projects to mitigate the impacts of climate change on Vietnam."

On this occasion, the Association of Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts in Australia presented a symbolic check for over 46,000 USD to help people in Vietnam’s central provinces overcome the consequences of last year's historic floods.
