(VOVWORLD) - A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son on Thursday attended a signing ceremony for the founding charter of US President Donald Trumps’s Board of Peace, aimed at ending the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

At the ceremony, held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, President Trump joined 19 heads of state and government and senior representatives from countries and territories including Bahrain, Morocco, Argentina, the United Arab Emirates, and Mongolia in signing the charter.
The Vietnamese Deputy PM, who met with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and other US officials said Vietnam appreciates President Trump’s efforts to promote peace, cooperation, and prosperity worldwide, and stands ready to participate in the Board of Peace as a founding member.
He said Vietnam wants to coordinate with other Board of Peace members in implementing the Gaza peace plan adopted by the UN Security Council last November.
The US cabinet members reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and reaching an agreement soon on reciprocal tariffs. They welcomed Vietnam’s interest in being a founding member of the Board of Peace.
On the sidelines of the signing, Deputy PM Son met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the foreign ministers of Indonesia, Uzbekistan, and Saudi Arabia, and senior Peace Board representative and former UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov, to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation within the Board of Peace.
They welcomed Vietnam’s participation in the Board of Peace, and expressed confidence that Vietnam will provide valuable lessons and make meaningful contributions to peace efforts.
