88-year-old journalist Ezequiel Hernandez Gomez, former Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper “¡Ahora!” (Right Now!) in Holguin city in central Cuba, has not missed any information about the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He is closely following updates through local media and the Voice of Vietnam.
Having worked in Vietnam during in 1974 and 1975, witnessing the country’s reunification and its difficult years of post-war reconstruction, Mr. Gomez firmly believes that the 14th National Party Congress will mark a historic milestone for Vietnam.
He said: “The General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, said that the goal of the new era is to build a strong and prosperous socialist Vietnam, capable of overcoming global challenges under the Party’s leadership and with the unity of the people. I highly appreciate General Secretary To Lam’s statement and agree that Vietnam is on the right path toward high-level development. It will be among the world’s strongest economies despite global challenges.”
Journalist Charly Morales Valido, former Head of Cuba’s Prensa Latina News Agency in Vietnam in the 2010–2012 period and having directly covered the 11th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 2011, said: “I am very optimistic about the outcomes of this Congress and the orientations adopted by the Communist Party of Vietnam to lead the country to an era of rise and ultimately become a developed, industrial country, and a model of multilateralism, respect, integration, and the establishment of strategic alliances connecting nations."
"Above all, Vietnam will be a model of determination, resilience, and creativity, which we have admired for many years and will continue to admire for a long time to come,” added the Cuban journalist.
