Vietnam, Laos make economic cooperation a strong pillar in bilateral ties

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam and Laos have agreed on more effective and substantive measures to promote economic cooperation as a strong pillar in bilateral ties, commensurate with the special political trust between the two countries.

During a meeting in Hanoi on Monday, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Lao Party leader and President Thongloun Sisoulith praised the steady development of bilateral relationship, which has delivered increasingly effective results. The two sides set a goal of raising two-way trade turnover to between 5 billion USD and 10 billion USD in the coming years.

Amid increasingly complex regional and global developments, the two leaders emphasized the importance of enhanced coordination and mutual support at regional and global forums, thereby contributing to the promotion of peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.

On Monday afternoon, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, who is on a state visit to Vietnam.
