Quang Ninh upgrades infrastructure in bold leap toward centrally-run city status

(VOVWORLD) - Many localities in Quang Ninh province have launched campaigns to renovate urban areas and upgrade infrastructure in residential neighborhoods, with priority given to roads and community facilities. This is another step toward Quang Ninhs goal of becoming a centrally-run city before 2030.

Cam Pha ward has begun 7 projects, Viet Hung ward 10 projects, Ha Lam ward 13 projects, and Yen Tu ward 12 projects. Thong Nhat commune has approved 5 projects related to transportation, landslide prevention, and flood control, and has planned 7 projects for 2026 to improve infrastructure, landscapes, and public living spaces.

We support donating land for these works because narrow roads have made it difficult for people to travel,” Tran Thi Thu of Ha Lam ward said.

According to Tran Duc Nhuan of Yen Tu ward, the local people respond immediately and enthusiastically to the 100-day campaign to improve the quality of urban and residential areas. “In our residential area, we went door to door and gathered people for meetings to reach a consensus.”

Many households have donated land or relocated structures to facilitate construction. In Yen Tu ward residents donated a total of 15,500 square meters of land, and residents of Ha Lam ward donated 5,200 square meters.

The projects are being implemented alongside 100-day and 90-day campaigns to improve urban areas and residential infrastructure, launched across Quang Ninh since early November.

These are concrete actions to realize the provincial People’s Committee’s Plan 272 with the goal of making Quang Ninh a centrally-run city before 2030.

Quang Ninh is prioritizing projects that renovate roads and drainage systems, plant trees, upgrade community centers, address flooding and pollution hotspots, and build playgrounds and community spaces.

Le Van Thang, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Bai Chay ward, which is striving to complete 7 projects, said that they are determined to make their urban and residential areas green, clean, and beautiful. “Efforts are being made to ensure that the projects are basically completed and put into use by the end of the year.”

Quang Ninh province has proposed 2,700 projects to be implemented between 2026 and 2030 using state funds, and public and private investment. A number of these projects are expected to be completed next year, marking the first anniversary of the implementation of the two-tier local government model.

With unified provincial government direction, proactive local administrations, and strong public support, Quang Ninh is developing its urban areas in a fast, sustainable, civilized, and modern manner.
