A: This week we got emails from listeners who have not corresponded with us for a long time - Justin Jones of the US, Tjang Pak Ning of Indonesia, and Gerald Kallinger of Austria.

Over the past week, we’ve received a lot of mails and emails from our dear listeners around the world. The number of listeners’ letters has increased in recent months showing that shortwave broadcasting remains popular around the world. Thank you all for tuning in to VOV.

Since we launched the new feature “Colorful Vietnam, Vietnam’s 54 ethic groups”, we received a lot of positive feedback from listeners. Jorg-Clemens Hoffmann of Germany wrote in his reception report for the program on June 18th: “I especially enjoyed the report about the ethnic groups in your country. Listening to the news and comments was of great interest as well. So it is good that the Voice of Vietnam is still broadcasting on shortwave to spread the word about your country.”

This week, we are very impressed with a letter from Alan Roe, a listener from Teddington, Middlesex in the UK. Alan has been a listener of English Program on the Voice of Vietnam, since the 1970s. It has been so long that he no longer remembers the exact date that he first heard VOV and that last time he wrote to us was a couple of years ago. Welcome back to VOV, Alan.

This week, we received a warm greeting from our Australian friend and listener, Stephen Hogan, who has not written to us for quite a long time.

Hello and welcome to VOV’s Letter Box. This feature airs every Wednesday. A: To begin this week’s Letter Box, I would like to welcome Fulvio Minerdo of Torino, Italy, to our program. Fulvio is a shortwave listener and listened to our program for the first time on April 24.

This week, we were very happy to receive feedback describing good reception quality in many places around the world.

In a letter to VOV dated April 15, Patrick wrote: “I enjoy listening to the Voice of Vietnam programs. I’ve been a regular listener since the 1970s. Thank you for keeping me informed and entertained over the years. It’s a pleasure listening. Please, will you send me one of your Voice of Vietnam pennants or other VOV materials. Please keep me informed by placing my name on your mailing list. I would like to hear more about Vietnamese painters and artists in your broadcasts. I’m also very interested in houses in Vietnam”.

Scorching summer days have finally come to Vietnam’s northern and central regions. The temperature ranges from 27DC at night to 37DC during the day. I think the temperature in the city is even higher than that.
