A: Dear listeners, we hope this week’s edition of the Letter Box finds you well. Before answering some of the many interesting questions from listeners, we would like to send a late happy birthday wish to 48-year-old Yoshihiro Kusanagi of Japan whose birthday was on June 29th.

This week, VOV’s Letter Box has been flooded with mails and emails from our dear listeners throughout the world. Despite the rapid growth of the internet and online media, the number of VOV shortwave listeners keeps increasing and so does the number of DXer Clubs. This shows that this traditional media remains a popular and effective channel of information. VOV has been broadcasting for 68 years and will continue in the years to come and, we greatly appreciate your listening.

A: This week we got emails from listeners who have not corresponded with us for a long time - Justin Jones of the US, Tjang Pak Ning of Indonesia, and Gerald Kallinger of Austria.

Over the past week, we’ve received a lot of mails and emails from our dear listeners around the world. The number of listeners’ letters has increased in recent months showing that shortwave broadcasting remains popular around the world. Thank you all for tuning in to VOV.

Since we launched the new feature “Colorful Vietnam, Vietnam’s 54 ethic groups”, we received a lot of positive feedback from listeners. Jorg-Clemens Hoffmann of Germany wrote in his reception report for the program on June 18th: “I especially enjoyed the report about the ethnic groups in your country. Listening to the news and comments was of great interest as well. So it is good that the Voice of Vietnam is still broadcasting on shortwave to spread the word about your country.”

This week, we are very impressed with a letter from Alan Roe, a listener from Teddington, Middlesex in the UK. Alan has been a listener of English Program on the Voice of Vietnam, since the 1970s. It has been so long that he no longer remembers the exact date that he first heard VOV and that last time he wrote to us was a couple of years ago. Welcome back to VOV, Alan.
