A day after arriving in Japan, members of the Vietnamese Olympics team begin training so they can put in the best performance possible at the upcoming games which are set to take place from July 23 to August 8.
The country sends a 43-member contingent to the event, including 18 athletes who will be competing across 11 different sports.
As the team’s brightest prospect, Hoang Xuan Vinh practices shooting. At the 2016 Rio Olympics held in Brazil, the nation was able to secure one gold and one silver medal for the first time in history thanks to the magnificent efforts of marksman Hoang Xuan Vinh.
Xuan Vinh is the current gold medal holder in the men's 10m air pistol shooting in the Olympics.
Swimmers Anh Vien and Huy Hoang undertake some light physical training. This year marks Vien’s third Olympics, where she will compete in the women’s 200m and 800m freestyle. Huy Hoang has been selected to carry the national flag during the competition’s opening ceremony.
Archers gather to practice ahead of the competition. Local archers Phi Vu and Anh Nguyet are due to compete on the first day of the Olympic Games on July 23.
