This reflects Vietnam's effort to be proactive in an increasingly complex global environment, and advance its long-term development goals, says Professor Xu Liping, an international affairs expert at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Speaking to reporters on the role and contributions of Vietnamese diplomacy over the past 40 years of Doi Moi (renewal), Professor Xu said Vietnam has consistently pursued a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification which has created a stable environment for renewal and global integration, while attracting foreign investment and expanding trade.
He highlighted Vietnam's "bamboo diplomacy," which balances firm principles with flexibility in foreign relations. According to Professor Xu, that approach has strengthened Vietnam's international reputation and enhanced its standing on the global stage.
Vietnam has established Comprehensive Strategic Partnerships with all five permanent members of the UN Security Council, becoming the first ASEAN country to achieve that milestone.
Professor Xu Libing also noted that Vietnam has consistently placed its relationship with China at the top of its foreign policy priorities, describing the approach as a reflection of the strategic vision and diplomatic wisdom of Vietnam's foreign policy.
