Deputy PM Tra made the request during a meeting of the State Steering Committee for Tourism on Monday in Hanoi. She stressed that Resolution No. 26 by the Politburo on developing Vietnam's tourism into a spearhead economic sector in the new era has created a driving force and strategic breakthrough for tourism development.
In Q4 of 2026, the tourism sectors and relevant agencies must implement Resolution No.26 in a decisive and coordinated manner. They must focus on key tasks and lead the way to resolve bottlenecks that hinder tourism development from 2027 onwards, Deputy PM Tra said.
"In addition to local specialties and key areas, all localities must have at least one flagship and representative tourism offering and begin promoting these products in 2027. It’ s necessary to work on a plan, assign tasks, goals, and develop the products' specifications in line with Resolution No. 26. We must treat this almost like an administrative mandate to ensure coordinated implementation across all 34 provinces and cities," she said.
The Deputy PM proposed making Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang the three tourism growth poles. She also stressed the need to identify which localities and areas should serve as Vietnam's 10 key tourism hubs, 20 national tourism sites, and 15 companies with national and international competitiveness. These measures will help establish suitable mechanisms for better coordination, support, and resolving bottlenecks.
The selected growth poles, tourism hubs, and national tourism sites must have clear advantages, flagship offerings, annual tasks and targets through 2030, thereby creating spillover effects and driving forces for development.
