The 3,900 km line passes through five countries, including Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. It's built entirely on land and connects the VNPT technical center in Da Nang with international data centers in the region.

Given frequent and prolonged submarine cable incidents, the operation of VSTN plays the role of a backup, strategically supplementing existing submarine cable routes, increasing the stability, proactiveness and safety of the national telecom infrastructure. More importantly, this marks a strategic step for Vietnam to get rid of its passiveness to completely master the national telecom infrastructure, ensuring that information is transmitted smoothly and safely in all circumstances.

Nguyen Thanh Chung, Director of the Department of Telecommunications at the Ministry of Science and Technology, said, “The VSTN international optical cable line symbolizes Vietnam's innovation, proactive integration and mastery of digital infrastructure."

"It is a foundation to realize the goal of Resolution 57 (on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation), which is to develop a coordinated, modern, interconnected digital infrastructure domestically and internationally,” he said.
