The Vietnamese top leader made the remarks at a meeting in Hanoi with outstanding delegates attending the 5th National Congress of the Vietnam Former Youth Volunteers Association for the 2026-2031 term.
He said nearly 400,000 members of the association represent an important social resource for national development.
Mr. Lam called on the association to substantially reform its operations, making them more streamlined and flexible. He also urged closer coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, the Vietnam Veterans Association, other socio-political organizations, government agencies and local authorities.
Such cooperation, he said, would help each organization maximize its strengths while creating opportunities for former Youth Volunteers to make practical contributions to society.
“I believe that the qualities of Youth Volunteers remain as relevant as ever. The courage shown in wartime must be carried forward through resilience in confronting today’s challenges; the determination to blaze new trails must evolve into a spirit of innovation; and comradeship must grow into compassion, social responsibility and the strength of national solidarity. I hope that every official and member will focus on three priorities: keeping the flame of tradition alive, preserving bonds of solidarity and maintaining faith in the future,” said the Vietnamese top leader.
Mr. Lam expressed his hope that the 5th National Congress would promote democracy, solidarity and collective wisdom, select dedicated and responsible leaders, and set out a clear direction for building a stronger and more effective association.
