Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Takio Yamada and Chief representative of the UNICF Vietnam. Rana Flowers signed a diplomatic note on Wednesday. Accordingly, local children and their community will be equipped with knowledge and skills to cope with climate change and disaster in the central and Mekong Delta regions.

Vice Minister of Agirucltural and Rural Development, Nguyen Hoang Hiep told the event: “In disasters prevention, children are the most vulnerable group, especially in nutrition, safe water, environment hygiene and healthcare. We commit to strengthen cooperation in the mid term public investment program to duplicate the project’s effect and expect more support in this regard from the government and people of Japan.”

20,000 people are to benefit from the project, including 9,000 children having access to better water and hygienic services and 10,000 kids having timely malnutrition intervention by 2025.
