The observance will take place on the 13th day after the disaster, in accordance with Hindu tradition.
On the mourning day, the national flag will be flown at half-mast at government offices across Nepal and at Nepali embassies and diplomatic missions abroad, government spokesperson and Education Minister Sasmit Pokharel said.
The government will also provide risk allowances and free medical treatment for the injured. Families of government employees who died while on duty will receive 6,600 USD for each victim. As of Friday morning, at least 1,259 people died and more than 5,000 remained missing.
