The national flags were flown at half-mast at government offices nationwide and Nepali diplomatic missions abroad.
People performed memorial rituals and offered tributes to the deceased. As search and rescue operations remain underway, Nepal did not hold large-scale memorial ceremonies on the national day of mourning. President Ram Chandra Paudel was touring flood-hit areas to survey damage caused by the disaster.
The Nepalese Army said that the rescue efforts continue at "the same tempo" to make sure "that no one is still stranded" and are focusing on ground areas, from the air, and inside tunnel systems.
As of Monday morning, the flash flood disaster in the border region between Nepal and China killed 1,385 people and more than 5,500 others still missing.
